The Shoe Box of Doom / It was almost three years ago...
As we approach this brand new year of 2009, I have thought back on the very first time that The Key of H every met... in Jordan's little bed room, on his birthday, when he had asked if we could all bring our instruments and jam. I can still remember it: two or three electric guitars all pumped through cheap digital effects boxes into several little practice amps, all straining way past capacity trying to compete with a full acoustic drum set - my own little bass amp over driven to the point of distortion - all in a little box like bed room. Then we closed the door and the air pressurized from the sound. I have sometimes heard the sound at death metal concerts referred to as "The Wall of Doom" - well... if that was the wall of doom, then this was like: "The Shoe Box of Doom" or "The Sardine Can of Doom". The compression was amazing... I still remember it... and now, you too can experience it thanks to my newly remastered and mixed for stereo recording of one of our very first attempts of our never released (I guess I could say that of any of our songs) single: Out of Breath, recorded with my very own digital camera, in that very room, on the very night, nearly three years ago.
The Key of H had a partial reunion today. Jordan, Daniel and myself [Drew] got together at the E's Barn and jammed, went out for pizza, jammed some more and wrote a song. This is a video of us playing....
Hey, I just wanted to let you all know that The Key of H is tentatively having a reunion sometime in the next few weeks (as when a certain lead guitarist who shall remain nameless returns from Florida).
Finally we are coming out with a 'single' hit of Always There and will have it on the website hopefully very soon...we spent most of the day on Saturday recording it and after Derrick does some mixing and we tune it up we will get it online so you can hear it....thanks for your patience...
Thank you Tai from the whole band for making this blog so much better we are really thankful! We are going to give you an 8x10 photo of us on our way into Narnia as a gift of gratitude but it will not say how thankful we are. Thanks again -The Key of H Jarred, Jordan, Andrew, Daniel, Ben
The name The Key of H is a joke because in music, the notes are named by letters or Keys A - G#. After G#, it just goes back to A and repeats itself over and over again, so you see, there is no Key of H :)
But there is a deeper meaning behind the musical joke. It is that we are: KEYping Our Focus on Him. Our goal is to keep our focus on Him and also divert the focus of others to Him . Thanks for checking out our blog!
